Abby's Birthday (our camping post follows this post)

Abby enjoyed her birthday at school. This is her BIG sticker she came home with. She gave out gift bags to all of her class and got sung to.
She got a necklace from the Amstutz, she was excied and said she wanted to wear it to church. Then she wanted to wear it to school, and when I said I didn't think so she argued about what the other girls are wearing to school. When did she become a teenager?

This doctor cart is what we bought her from Mom. She's been eyeing it for a while. This was the reaction when she first saw it. We made her cover her eyes, it was too hard to wrap.
Last but not least here she is with her cake. She chose it CARS she just wanted the toy car that came on top. Read the new post BELOW this on for camping pictures.

Camping

We went camping this weekend for Abby's birthday. The first pictures are of both girls gathering wood for the fire. I think this was the most fun they had. They were both scared of the fire and wouldn't go near it so no campfire pictures this time.

We survived the night, but decided we need a bigger tent. This is the girls the next morning. We were right on the lake as you see behind them. We could see fish jumping out of the water after bugs.
Here they are waiting for the water to get hot for oatmeal. It was perfect camping weather couldn't have asked for better.
And the birthday girl taking a walk with Daddy.

End of Summer Fun & My Scar

Here's Abby with her new school haircut, on her first day back.
Abby needed a family picture for their school family tree so this is what we ended up with. Everyone was tired of pictures at this point. Emily kept looking at Abby instead of the camera.
Here's Emily with her "ponies" She would LOVE to have them in everyday if I'd do them. She has to run and look in the mirror as soon as they're finished.
John got a slip and slide just before our visit so they spent Sat afternoon playing while I spent it in bed with the stomach flu. :P
And below you will find my scar for anyone interested. This is at 2 weeks post op, and it's still a little sore and swollen in places. And yes, it really has faded that much and isn't that bad looking even this soon.

The Great Outdoors & Birthdays

The cats and Abby are enjoying our fenced yard. Abby REALLY loves Simon. She would gladly hold him most of the day if he allowed it.

Emily is truly enjoying "owwsie" (oww as in what you say when you get hurt and sie with a long i) She asks to go there daily and usually cries when it's time to come in. She's all smiles when she's there, as you can see.
She's 2!! and usually remembers to say it when asked. Here are the remains of her cupcakes.
She was sooooo excited to get presents. It was all we could do to keep her from screaming with excitement. She jumped up and down with excitement after she opened each one.
Last but not least, here they are running through the fields behind our house waring themselves out. Love it when I can convince them to run till they drop. Means they will sleep great and we get adult time.

Family Resemblance

Thers aren't the best examples, but don't Becky on the left below and Emily below look alike? I don't have a good pic of Emily but we have seen her looking EXACTLY like her below. Just thought I'd share.

Welcome To Summer

Summer is here and our flowers and plants are doing GREAT!!

Our hydrangias are a little dry but looking purple. They can be blue or pink depending on ground acidity. I guess ours is in between, and Abby is thrilled they are purple.

Here are Abby's roses looking pretty good. Mine don't have any blooms on them at the momment to take pics of.

Emily's rose are incredible!!! They are Disney roses and had at least 20 blooms and buds on at one time!!!!

For Mom here are our Hosta that have decided to bloom, hard to see but they bloomed purple too. They came up out of nowhere, I guess the last people planted them and this summer here they are.

Here are our watermelon plants, they're doing good. They've doubled in size since I took the pic about 4 days ago!!

Another wierd plant that just appeared in our backyard. We found one like it at Lowes and it's called a Tropicana. I guess it gets some orange or yellow tropical flowers at some point. Hard to see but it has yellow and orange viening on dark red leaves.Notice watermelon reaching out to grab it.

Here are the girls in their new sandbox, they LOVE it. And Emily ONLY spent the first day "tasting" the sand.

The swiming pool is a big hit and is already dying a slow death. Guess we'll have to keep our eyes open for another one soon.

Here I am with my new summer fashion statment. I had my MRI last week, and go back to get results on Friday. by the way it's REALLY hot in the sun

Spring Is Here

Welcome to spring . The weather's been great. Thought I'd throw in a pic or 2 of our house. Here's the front view. to the right is our garage and to the left our connection of our deuplex. Pretty boring, we just planted hydrangia and camelia bushes under the two windows to the left. We also have rose bushes on both sids of the walk were it turns towards the door. So not boring for long.:)

This is the view from the back door. Our bqckyard boarders on the railroad track and beyond that is the golf course. The train only runs to move leaving or returning
Army equitment so not very often. Abby and Emily love to get out in time to wave to the "train drivers". They always wave back.

This is the back yard. By the way in both back yard pics you can see our grill tipped over. The wind did that yesterday during some rough weather. The 3 large windows together are our living room windows so we have a nice view of the golf course and no cars going by or neighboors to look in.

Here is that view. It's really nice and we haven't had a golf ball in our yard yet.

Abby andEmily decided Daddy's car was dirty. While Dave mowed the lawn, they cleaned the car. They had rags and their squirt bottles.

This past weekend we went to the Louisville zoo. Here they are with the goats.

Her's John Abby and Emily (with Kathy's help) on the baby elephant statue.

Lastly here is Abby feeding the animals. Emily decided to beheld, it was just to big.

Easter

Here are our egg coloring attempts for the year. Everyone had a great time.

Abby was all about doing it herself. She did a pretty good job.

Emily, of course, had to say "me ter" which means "my turn". She did pretty good too. We only ended up with about 5 majorly cracked. ;)

Here they are in all their finery. The easter bunny brought them both necklaces that had to be worn to church. Luckily the easter bunny did a good job of color coordinating.

Abby was "giving instructions" to Emily about how these pics should be posed. Always the big sister.

Weather Changes

OK so we've had some interesting weather lately. Here is our snowman make on Feb. 27th. We had a great time playing outside and Abby was sooooo sad to see the snow go the next day.

So, by March 2 we hit 70. We went to land between the lakes homestead after church for my B-day. Beautiful weather and a great day.

Aren't they sweet? When they're good together their great, but when they aren't look out.

Then March 8 we built this!!! We had about 5 inches and it was drifting so deep Emily couldn't walk without falling.

Lastly here is a pic of Emily in her hospital provided pjs. Monday the 3rd she stood up on our bed and fell off and gave herself a cuncussion. We took her to the ER as she was sleepy and pale. She got sick ALL OVER herself there so she got these nifty pjs that she wants to wear all the time now. She was fine and back to herself the next day. Dave says he already is too familiar with our ER.
